Overview
Complete rehabilitation of Berbera International Airport — passenger terminal, control tower, security fencing and supporting infrastructure.
Complete rehabilitation of the airport: maintenance of the passenger terminal and related facilities, interior and exterior finishing works, IT surveillance, service halls, support services and sound systems, the control tower building, GSE facilities, GRP tank assembly, and perimeter chain-link fencing. The contract also covered road construction, building construction, the main entrance gate and fencing, to return the airport to full operational performance.
Recorded cost components include civil works (USD 269,181), MEP works (USD 121,098), internal and external security fencing (USD 310,350 and USD 220,509), the driveway (USD 53,656), the control tower (USD 38,246), the old cargo building (USD 12,486), GSE sheds (USD 9,439), a water filtration system (USD 21,000), firefighting works (USD 19,957), and mobilisation and demolition (USD 40,000).
The airport spans more than 4 km², so the works ran across multiple stages and locations. Restricted-area security clearance and permits were required throughout, and the design and scope were incomplete at project start, with additional works arising during delivery.
Refurbishment, maintenance and replacement works were delivered with local labour supported by a staff of engineers and technicians.
